If you own a foreign property, you should also make a Will in the country where it is situated.
Can I leave money or a gift for someone living abroad?
Yes. This is possible. It depends if someone is domiciled abroad (lives abroad for more than 180 days per year) However, there are inheritance tax implications. Please call us for further details and ways you can limit the amount of tax paid.
Can someone be assigned as a guardian for my children if they are living abroad?
This is possible but can create complications as if that person requires a VISA it may be difficult to obtain. Please call us for further advice.
If I do not have a will could a relative abroad challenge for my estate if I died?
Unfortunately yes. You NEED to make a will so that this is not possible.
